Affectionate, beautiful snuggle buddy in search of a good home! 7/27/15 update: Ginger is looking for a quiet home to call her own. Her ideal forever home would be a household where she can either be an only dog or with a calm, confident dog. She likes her space and she is skittish when people come up behind her, so care must be taken when out walking her, and she would benefit from training to desensitize her to the things that startle her. She is eager to learn and wants to please. Dog parks are not for Ginger because she prefers to be with her person and to take cues/instructions from her human. Indoors, she is a delightful companion who will quietly play with her toys and chew on her elk antler by day and snuggle with you at night. Ginger would like everyone to know that she likes bacon. Ginger is an owner surrender who has adjusted very quickly to her foster home. She likes to go for walks to meet new people and other dogs, and she is a good guard dog with a nice loud bark. She used to live with toddlers and a cat, so she is good with everyone. She has wonderful house manners and is not destructive. She knows some tricks (sit, down) and, because she is food-motivated, she is ready to learn some more. Ginger walks reasonably well on a leash and she sometimes gets startled by loud noises, but overall she is really a sweet dog who will fit in nicely in just about any household where she can get the love and attention she deserves. Ginger is planning to attend adoption events in Northern Virginia.
