German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult

Meet Ember! She is 67lbs of a what looks to be a mix of a number of different types of Shepherds (German and Anatolian perhaps?). She has a very sweet, docile disposition and could be an only dog or live with a pack - she hasn't met another dog or human - big or small - that she doesn't like and she makes a great running and hiking buddy. She may be a bit timid at first, but will stick close by your side and would not mind being petted nonstop 24 hours a day. She is a true love bug.
She was pulled from a shelter in southwestern Virginia so little is known about her background, but she was already spayed and thus clearly someone's pet. In our short time together, she has quickly bonded and is my shadow. As time has progressed, a bit more puppy has emerged. I estimate she is around 2 - 2.5 years old so she has some spunk, but is only a medium energy dog. I believe she is full grown and filled out, but runs like a young dog - all limbs and big paws. She has a lovely, super soft coat, beautiful unique yellow/hazel eyes, and pink tongue with black splotches.
She has a calm temperament and while she can play, she just as quickly settles down to lay by your feet. She is not a barker, even when alert. She is not a fan of loud noises - trucks or motorcycles - but as she gains confidence this sensitivity may lessen. She is learning basic commands - we are working on sit - and does not pull on a leash. I don't believe she has had any obedience training, but she is potty trained. She still seems to be figuring out what is expected of her and will benefit from someone taking some time with her. She takes verbal corrections well and loves a tasty treat or chewy. She likes car rides and is adjusting easily to a crate.
She needs a bit of structure and love to give her a bit of confidence, but truly she is already a gem and a very easy dog. She would be a great first dog and probably would like a home that is somewhat quiet even though she seems to like kids, their sudden movements may startle her until she feels integrated into her new surroundings.
