Hi, I’m Jake. Just a week ago, I was an outside dog, and didn’t know how to play. But now I’m living and loving the life indoors. My foster mom says sometimes I need to go out and play, but I am so glad when I come back in again. I did go to a dog park and met all sorts of other dogs and their people. I really didn’t care about the other dogs, but I introduced myself to every person there. People tell me I am a very handsome boy, with a beautiful shepherd trot, and I really like the praise, though I don’t know what all that means. My two foster dog sisters are teaching me to play, but I really am not very interested in chasing a ball. I do like to follow them around, but I like following my humans around even more. I’m told that I am learning house training quickly, and I get to sleep in the bedroom at night with the other dogs. We also have a couple of cats here, and they are a bit scary, but smell interesting. When I get scared I make a loud yipping noise and sometimes fall backwards, like when an umbrella opens up, or the kitties hiss at me. My foster mom says I am learning commands very well, but I should have some obedience training. She thinks I would do best in a quiet home, preferably with a confident dog (not an Alpha type) who can help me learn about all the things in life I have not experienced yet. Though I seem to like children, at this point a home without children would be best as I get scared with loud noises. She says that may change as time goes on. Right now, I am getting medicine for ehrlichia and lymes (both tick diseases) and we’re awaiting the results of all my blood work, but I will be available soon.
