German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young
7/6/2014 We have had Lucy for a week now, and she has already come a long way in integrating into our family. She is a classic black-and-tan beauty, very sweet with people and eager to please. She knows all of her basic commands and learns new ones very quickly. She rides very well in the car. We are working on leash-training and heeling, and she is getting better. Lucy is very unsure about other dogs and is currently working on her dog-to-dog social skills. She has already made significant progress, and we are hopeful that this will continue. However, for the time being she will need very slow and supervised introductions to other dogs. She was not crate-trained when we took her, but in one week has already learned that it is a safe place to be and does not mind as long as either our other dogs are crated, too, or she does not have to stay in there long. She has not been destructive in the house and stays off the furniture. Lucy loves to play ball in the backyard (her favorite game is “catch-me-if-you-can”, but she will bring the ball back to you if you call her). She is currently recovering from kennel cough, but has no other health issues. She has not had the opportunity to interact with children yet. We hope to provide further information as we get to know her better. Please feel free to contact your case worker if you are an approved adopter who is interested in Lucy or email foster@vgsr.org More about Lucy 2468Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Somewhat vocal, Requires a yard, Cratetrained, Plays fetch, Likes to play with toys, Protective, Playful, Affectionate, Intelligent
