Hi, 

My name is Ben and I am an (almost) five year old AKC registered German Shepherd. My paperwork says i come from a working dog line. I don't know why it says that because i really love to play and learn! If you can think of something to teach me, i will try to learn. I already know lots of tricks and love to learn new things. I will get bored if you leave me at home all day so I hope to find a family where someone is home during the day. If you are retired or work from home then I might be the perfect dog for you. I love to go for walks and chase a ball and if you give me exercise regularly I'll be the best dog you could ask for. I'm a big handsome boy and can be a little intimidating at first but I'm surprisingly easy to manage on a leash. I will do better with an owner who knows shepherds a little and can tell me in a firm voice that i'm doing something wrong - I listen very well. I'll follow you around the house and you wont have to lock your doors with me in charge. I currently live with my foster mom and dad and their six year-old son in a small home with a small yard and 4 ft. chain link fence. I could jump over easily but I'd rather stay in the yard. My family says i'm a great dog to have around the house. I dont mind other dogs too much unless they try to play with my toys, so my foster family thinks I should go to a family with no other dog.  I'm good around older children but because i'm a shepherd i have a tendency to try and herd the toddlers so no small children (the little kids are kind of scared of me but i just want to watch out for them). Once I get to know the kids who come to visit me, I'm fine with them.
