Meet Jake, as we call him Jake, Jake from State Farm but now in good hands with Allstate. Which is perfect for him as his insurance was about to expire in January. At 8 months old he was in a high kill shelter in SC. The staff there fought for him and he ended up with another rescue. They took care of Jake and adopted him out. The family had issues with his "mouthing" and felt intimidated by him. Returned him back to the rescue who then contacted VGSR, and here he is.
 
Jake is a handful and will need a strong leader who can train him. From January until now, he has been to  four different places and never really was taught structure. He was sent to doggie day care where he loves to play with other dogs, but at home, he ran the house.  He was not taught at a young age what is and what is not appropriate. When corrected he loves to mouth and or chew on things. When given the correction, he acts like a juvenile delinquent and thinks mouthing is a great way to get you to stop correction him.
 
Jake is believed to have  Malamute in him, and it shows with his hard headed self. Jake will need to go to a home with out young kids. He will need additional training to learn to respect humans. He  has only known that humans awwed over him with love and no discipline.
 
Jake walks great on a leash and has learned a few things. He has learned sit for his food, learned to stay at the door until I walk out. However, don't let that fool you, he is hard headed and will get distracted easy. He constantly needs something to do and will chew on things to pass the time.
