Hello future family, my name is Sarge! I was a traveling man before I came to live with my foster family - I was found as a stray roaming around rural West Virginia. I saw a lot of neat things during my travels, but realized what I really wanted in life was a warm bed, a full belly, and some humans to love. Now I am living the good life! I spend my days learning new things, taking long naps in my pick of several very fluffy beds, and stuffing my furry face with as much food as I can. My foster mom is really excited that I am putting on the pounds and I am really happy to know I am getting a big delicious dinner every single night. I love playing with my foster brother and sister. My foster brother is a dignified older guy, so I have learned to play nicely with him and leave him alone when he needs his space - but my foster sister, she is fair game! We chase each other around the house all day and have epic wrestling matches.
Being a former stray, I have quite a few normal dog things to learn and I have been learning a lot since I have come to my foster home. I learned that when my mommy says "sit" she wants me to put my butt on the ground, when she says "stay" it means she wants me to wait for her patiently in my place - but sometimes I just want to hang out with her so bad I conveniently forget what "stay" means (but I know... do not tell her). I am also learning to potty ONLY outside - when I first came to my new home I had a couple of accidents but Mom says I am "potty-trained" now. I learned that the "crate" is a really great place for me to feel safe and take a good nap while my mom and dad are out of the house. I am also learning how to walk on a leash. My foster dad is a really good leader and is very patient with me, I am getting better every single day.
My foster mom thinks I would be a good therapy dog because I am so cuddly, good-natured, and love people of all ages. Just the other day I met two really small humans (my mom calls them kids) and I LOVED them. I know the small humans can be scared because I am so big so I try to be very still and also sneak in a sloppy kiss so they know I am a good guy. I am also an EXPERT cuddler and will find a way to snuggle right into your heart. Sometimes I go a little overboard on the cuddling and the kissing - my foster parents say I have boundary issues - but honestly, I think they like it and you will too if your my forever home :)
