Dakota is a young two year old GSD .  On the petite side, Dakota is only 58lbs and needs to gain a little weight to fill out.   She is very playful and sweet - no aggressive tendencies at all but doesn't yet know the rules of not jumping or mouthing    She loves squeeky toys, chew toys, other dogs and generally playing with you and all the toys she can find.    On her first afternoon in foster after being transported several hours Dakota wanted to play almost immediately, she takes treats fairly gently and will sit for them once you get her attention.

 

She rides well in the car but not quite sure that it's a good thing to be taken in and out of the car or the crate.  This will probably dissipate once she knows getting in the car means walks and dog parks.  She has been to the dog park and did well going to each of the people there for a pet and some attention.  Just like getting in the car she was more worried about being left as she went to the gate every time people came and went.    She spent the last month in a shelter after being surrendered by her owner so you can understand why she just needs some TLC and boundaries to be a great dog.

 

Dakota's challenge is basic training  and  approved adoptes will be required to secure training to keep her going down the right path.   Her leash skills are not great but that along with the jumping and mouthing can be corrected and we have already started working on her manners.
