My name is Benn. Im a young, single guy looking for a loving, long-term relationship. Id like to find that someone special to spend my life with, but Im also interested in the idea of loving several people. I had a physical recently and am in good health, although Ill be having a procedure done on April 12 (its a guy thing). I like to stay in shape by jogging. I put in a few miles every day, usually around my neighborhood although I think hiking or bicycling sounds like fun too. Once in a while I dont mind doing laps around the back yard, but that isnt enough for a guy like me I want to get out and see whats going on. My friends say Im the quiet type, never making much noise, and that its hard for me to stay in one place for long (unless Ive had a belly rub or a nice relaxing brushing then its nap time). I like people and enjoy being around other guys (and gals), heck, I even have a couple of cats I hang out with. Im a world class kisser, will bring back anything that a pal throws for me and I like to go for rides. I've been told that Im a very good listener and pick things up quickly. Just the other day, okay it was 2 days, I learned not to go through a door before a lady. Sometimes I get excited and forget, but when reminded, Im happy to let you go first. I like to have my space, preferring to just hang out in the house somewhere. I have been known to sleep in a crate, but only if I have to and, for a few minutes, Im going to let you know how I feel about it. VGSR can only adopt dogs out in the Virginia/Maryland/DC area, no exceptions.

Although donations of all types are needed, our primary need is foster homes for our lovely dogs while they wait for their new family to find them. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience. Vet care is paid for by our rescue, and we can even provide you with food. All YOU need to add is love and security.

The adoption process starts with the applicant filling out the adoption application. This can happen at any time during the process, before or after having met a GSD that might be the ideal companion. (It's an advantage to have a pre-approved application on file with VGSR. It should be stressed here that being pre-approved does not mean that any potential adopter can select any available dog at will and take that dog home immediately. VGSR will exercise its best judgement as to which GSD will be the best match for that specific adopter based on a number of qualifying criteria. Many GSDs that come to us are matched up with their new people very quickly because their people have been pre-approved.) The applicant then submits the application form with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $250.00 donation to VGSR, and the adoption is completed.
