Hello! Im Lindsey. I am 2 years old and a neutered female GSD. People think am mixed with something (they keep saying collie Blah!) since I am so fluffy and cute. I am a long-haired GSD! I love people and love to give kisses. My foster mom said she is surprised that I could be so friendly since my past wasnt so nice. I was kept outside with lots of trash in the back yard for most of my life. I didnt get to eat much since my family forgot to feed me every so often. I met this nice woman who rescued me from this family and I got to eat on a regular basis. She took me to a place that gave me medicine so that I would be healthy. Now I am with my foster mom and am an inside dog now! I like to play with other dogs if they are nice. If they start barking at me or growling, I will bark back. I like car rides, especially if the back is big, so that I can lie down when I get sleepy. My foster mom said that I am very smart. I learned how to sit and heel in one day! I love long walks and to play with tennis balls. I dont know how to play with other toys yet, but I am willing to learn! Instead, I find other things interesting, like shoes and stuff. My foster mom makes loud noises to keep me from grabbing something. I guess that means I am not supposed to chew on it. My foster mom said that the best thing that she loves about me is that I really like to snuggle with her! Although donations of all types are needed, our primary need is foster homes for our lovely dogs while they wait for their new family to find them. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience. Vet care is paid for by our rescue, and we can even provide you with food. All YOU need to add is love and security.

The adoption process starts with the applicant filling out the adoption application. This can happen at any time during the process, before or after having met a GSD that might be the ideal companion. (It's an advantage to have a pre-approved application on file with VGSR. It should be stressed here that being pre-approved does not mean that any potential adopter can select any available dog at will and take that dog home immediately. VGSR will exercise its best judgement as to which GSD will be the best match for that specific adopter based on a number of qualifying criteria. Many GSDs that come to us are matched up with their new people very quickly because their people have been pre-approved.) The applicant then submits the application form with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $200.00 donation to VGSR, and the adoption is completed.
