08/20/2024 - There are tons of positives about our sweet girl, Shauri - likes people, the resident dogs and cats, car rides, playing outside, and being your shadow. She is a homebody. She wants to be with her person, on her property or in her car. She knows sit, paw, down and is working on place. She is good free roaming in the house or contained. Very well potty trained. She isn't a crazy barker which is nice. Her prey drive is low - hence the good with kitties - just not sure about little dogs.  She is a leash puller and is on alert whenever outside and especially when she sees another dog. She will pay very close attention, gruff, tail/body rigid, and if the other dog barks at her she is ready to respond back. I believe this is in response from being attacked previously. Both issues we are working on but more work is needed. She seems to do well when corrected and when proper dog intros are done. She has tested positive for Lyme disease and is almost done with her meds but will always test positive now. She loves Greek yogurt so the meds have been pretty easy. Overall, she is a beautiful, smart, attention seeking, sweetie.

07/31/2024 - Sweet Shauri has been doing wonderful in the house and loves to be outside, but only if her person is with her.  She will want to be near you and follow you around in typical shepherd fashion. She has done great with the kitties and our resident dogs - grumbles and plays hard just as Shepherds do. She has done wonderfully when allowed to free roam and has also done well when crated. She is an active girl so she will definitely need ball throwing, walks, etc. When at the vet recently she wasn't keen on other dogs so I would suggest doing slow intros to new pups. This may be a result of her previous adoption where she had been repeatedly attacked. We have 4 resident pups (all female, 3 similar in age to Shauri) and she has done wonderfully with them. She and the GSD will sometimes gruff at each other then run off and play. In the house, after the excitement of you getting up or arriving home, she settles down nicely but is ready to go again as soon as you are. She isn't a big barker but when she does, you know it.  Lol.

07/03/2024 - Sweet Miss Shauri is back with VGSR due to no fault of her own. Seems the resident dog at her last adopter kept attacking this sweet girl. So, we are looking for a new home for her. In the past she has done well with our cats and dogs. Prior adopter said she did wonderful with their young kids (3 under 10).

02/15/2024 - Shauri has had a lot of ups and downs in her life but hopefully now she will get a chance on finding her forever home with a family that will love and care for her.  She is now a good, healthy 60 pounds and loves getting attention and playing outside with her human. fetch anyone? She has the most beautiful smile and just wants to make you happy. She is sharing a home with 2 adults, no kids, four resident dogs (female), a foster puppy (male), 5 cats (2 male & 3 female), and 2 fish (no idea) and has been doing well with all of them.

09/17/2023 - Poor Shauri was bought and bred then dumped at the local shelter with her male partner. Unfortunately, the shelter was overly full and the male didn't make it out. Happily VGSR was able to take in this beautiful girl. She came to VGSR a measly 32 pounds - a skeleton with fur - you could feel every rib, hip bone, and her spine. Some of the pictures are from when she first came into VGSR. She appears to have had multiple litters and obviously gave everything she had to her sweet pups. She was so hungry she had even eaten a plastic bag looking for food.
