Hi I’m Elsie! Not much is known about my past other than I was found as a stray and ended up in this place called a shelter but now I’m enjoying my new life as a house dog with my foster parents and big brother GSD. When I was found I had this disease called mange so I’m still working on growing back my beautiful GSD coat but it’s getting better every day. My foster parents said that I’m a skinny minnie and need to gain another 10 pounds, which is fine by me because I love all the yummy things I get to eat!

I’m a medium energy girl and I love playing with my foster brother, fetching the ball and going for “sniffari” walks where I take in all the good smells. My foster brother also taught me how fun it is to fetch sticks in the stream! My foster parents say I walk pretty well on a leash and ride great in the car. I hear my foster parents say that I have a really good “off-switch”, whatever that means, but when nothing exciting is going on I am happy to just curl up and nap or chew on a bone. I’m also very affectionate and would love to put my head in your lap and give you kisses. Did I mention that I’m completely housebroken? When my foster parents go out I have free reign of the house and I have been completely trustworthy.

I don’t want to brag but I’m a super smart girl and have been quickly learning my basic commands like sit, down, stay, come (check out my video!). Like a lot of GSDs I take some time to warm up to new people but once I do, I bond quickly and strongly. I can also be protective of my property and my people so my new family will need to be strong and confident to teach me that I’m not the boss.

I’ve never lived with cats before but I like to chase all the woodland critters so I would probably want to chase a cat too. I haven’t spent much time around children either but I probably would be best in a home with no or older children.
