Meet Cane!  Cane is an 8 month old, recently neutered, high energy boy. He was surrendered by his owner who lived in an apartment.  Cane is crate trained,  potty trained, and rides great in the car. He loves balls and toys.  He loves to fetch, and he can catch the ball in the air when you throw it and he knows to give it back to you. Cane is still a puppy, albeit a tall and lanky one!  He needs basic puppy training and proper socialization.  He is treat driven, and is eager to please.  He is a puller, and is puppy mouthy.  Cane will need a patient family that knows the breed and is willing to train him to be the best dog he can be. . If you live in the country, he won't need a fence, but he does need room to run and play.  If you live in a neighborhood, you will need a fence.  Cane doesn't necessarily need a pIaymate, but if you have another dog, I recommend their energies match. My 2 seniors aren't about that play. He has not been cat tested, and I don't recommend small children because he is a jumper. He only jumps once, and not over and over like other breeds, although that can be trained away. Cane has been through a lot of change is his short life, and he will need time to decompress and get adjusteed to his new family.  A patient, loving family that will give him lots of love, praise and positive reinforcement is what he needs. Please remember when rescuing:  3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to get used to your routine, and 3 months until he feels like he is finally home.  If you feel like Cane is the family member you have been looking for and you are approved, please email me at emilyschroeder2006@gmail.com. to schedule a meet and greet. If you are not approved, please go to VGSR.org.  The process takes about 7-10 days (we are all volunteers with jobs) it is not dog specific, and the approval lasts for 2 years. We could also use more fosters and volunteers. We can't bring a dog into the rescue if we don't have a foster home. We do not have a shelter that our dogs stay in, only homes. That means no foster home, no intake. This saying is so true: pleae adopt, don't shop :-)
