Stop what you're doing and let me tell you about Xavian 6244. He is a precious, gentle 18 month old boy. There aren't enough words of endearment to describe him appropriately. He is the type of dog who can thrive in just about any household. He loves people, he's great with other animals and he is happy, all of the time. He is a large boy at 94lbs. He's absolutely stunning, has long legs and his face is sweet and pure. And did I mention he has the best puppy dog eyes and floppy ears. He loves toys, naps and he is a food-aholic. This boy enjoys fruits, veggies, treats and just about any snack he can find.
Things haven't always been great for Xavian. We pulled him and his littermate from a shelter in late December. He was in rough shape. He was underweight and had lost majority of his fur on his sides, belly, legs and some on his chest. His skin was dry, scaly and extremely itchy. We also found out both of his hips were fractured. Despite having these issues has always been the sweetest boy with everyone he has met including lots of veterinarians and staff. He is fully potty trained and does great in the crate. He is usually good left unattended and is respectful of gates.
We have taken Xavian to multiple specialists for dermatology and orthopedics. After medications, medicated baths and some TLC, his fur is almost completely grown in, he's no longer itchy and he is absolutely beautiful. In April, we had a University ortho consult and after an exam and series of radiographs we found out that Xavian's fractures had miraculously healed!!! Yes, healed!!
So what's next...as with any old injury, Xavian's hips will likely develop some arthritis, especially as he ages. The fracture in His right leg was worse than the left. It is critical for Xavian to stay active by walking. Swimming is a huge plus. We even have some super easy exercises you can do at home with him! He has started joint supplements (Dasuquin) and salmon oil. At some point in Xavian's life IF his hips become painful he may need surgery but VGSR received a generous donation for Xavian and VGSR will agree to contribute $4000 to Xavian's surgery at the time that he needs it. We have so much information about Xavian and would love to discuss it with you. We are absolutely certain that if you meet him, you will fall in love with him.
