Intro: 10/10/22:

Roy is a sweet guy. He does okay on a leash and loves to play with our other 4 yr old GSD.  He was neutered on 10/10/22, so he's recovering from that as well as an ingrown collar (mostly healed now).  He's timid, but friendly around other people and dogs.  We haven't tested him with children yet and he hasn't shown any interest in squirrels or cats at all.

He's working on sit, stay, and figuring out the dog door.  He is house-trained and will willing get into a crate, but we have an open home, so he rarely does anymore.

He loves daily walks.  He is very quiet and has yet to bark at anything, but the world is still all new to him.  He loves to explore the yard as well as just hang out in the house.

He's will probably gain a few more pounds, but he's probably close to full size now.

• Update 10/20/22: Roy has integrated well into our house.  He plays with Elle daily, has totally mastered the dog door, and has recovered from all his earlier ailments (ear mites, worms, etc.). He has gained a bit of weight and now is a healthy 44.5 pounds.  He sits and waits (briefly) when we feed him, is great on daily walks, and hasn't done much damage in our open home.  He has grabbed the occasional shoe if we leave them on the floor.  
• Update 10/23/22: Roy has settled into our home.  He uses the dog dog frequently and has even barked once or twice.  He loves all dogs he meets, pretty much ignores the cats and squirrels on our walks, and is cautious (not aggressive) of most humans and takes about 10-20 minutes to warm up to anyone new. 
• Update 10/26/22: Took Roy for a 4+ mile hike today off leash.  He did great.  He stayed close and mostly wasn't underfoot.  We did have our other GSD with us, so that always helps.
