German Shepherd Dog (short coat) : : Female (not spayed) : : Young
Guten Tag! My name is Lucy and I’m pleased to meet you. Eat, play fetch, drink water, and play some more fetch are my favorite things to do. I’m only 14 months old and have always been the only doggo until I came to my foster family. I know how to interact with what you humans call children, but I’m not entirely sure how to interact with my two foster brothers. I’m getting the hang of it though according to my foster parents. While I’m learning to live among a pack, I do know how to do commands in German. Pretty impressive, huh? I love to work for food or for a ball. I promise I won’t hurt your fingers or hand when you reward me with a tasty treat. I am a quick learner; trust me I’ve been with my foster family for a short time and I already know their routine. Where I used to live, I loved to chase smaller critters. I haven’t seen too many lately and I’m attached to this thing called a leash, so I am not able to just run after something small and furry. That’s ok, I don’t want to hurt my foster parent’s arms when they take us all out for some fresh air and potty breaks. Not to brag, but I’m a pretty strong girl. When my foster parents are away, we are all in our personal dens…I think humans call them crates? I don’t mind it honestly. I keep my den clean since we sleep in them at night as well. Besides, no one likes to sleep on anything dirty. It’s relaxing, quiet, and I feel safe. All of this is great, but I hope to one day find my permanent pack. I would love to go on adventures or just run around in the fenced in backyard. It would be best if there are no cats as I know myself all too well and would be highly intrigued by them. I want to keep learning new skills and make my humans happy. I’m pretty easy to get along with so I’m hoping it won’t be long. Welp, I gotta go; I have a ball to fetch! **If you are an approved adopter or would like more information about Lucy-5494, please contact GSDFanz04@gmail.com** UPDATE 01/20/2020: Lucy's Foster parents here. Since Lucy has been here with us we have seen her come out of her shell quite a bit. She absolutely adores her foster brothers and is doing well with interacting within the pack. She will definitely flourish as part of pack in her forever home. Lucy also likes to speak her mind as if she's a Husky. She is continuously impressing us with how quickly she picks up commands and training. She now has a few commands in English, mainly because we dont know the German commands. Lucy is not yet spayed, so that is the next part of her journey. She is currently nudging her ball at my hand. I guess that's my cue that this update is over! UPDATE 02/01/2020: Hello! Lucy did fabulous with her spay earlier this week and is currently healing beautifully. The tricky part is keeping her calm during this time as she is rather energetic. We have had quite a few inquiries about small dogs, cats, and even birds. Lucy has high drives...ball and prey drive... since she is a working line GSD. With that being said, we do not recommend she be placed in a home with cats, birds, or any other small critter she can chase. For her, this is a natural response, however most folks (and the critter trying to escape her) would not be too thrilled with that behavior. Lucy continues to voice her opinions during her several small sessions of play time with her foster brothers. She has been extra cuddly this week since she has been medicated after her procedure. Don't worry, even when she is not medicated she is the absolute best snuggle bug! Welp that's all for now; until the next update.
