Canella will not be available for adoption until she is medically cleared. 8/21/19 Here's this week's update on Canella from her Foster Mom. As you can imagine, her surgery was quite expensive and her physical therapy will continue to add to her expenses. If you are able to help with a donation toward some of her expenses we would be forever grateful! Donations from our wonderful followers helps us to be able to continue to help the dogs in need! Canella had her post-op doctor's appointment yesterday to get her staples out from where they repaired her leg. The doctor said her leg is looking good, but she still has two weeks left of crate rest to go! She was not happy to hear this! From there she will need physical therapy to build up muscle and help her leg heal properly. In the meantime, her Foster Mom started working on basic obedience training because Canella is very bored! She now knows: sit, down, stay, and place. She is a very smart girl and eager to please!
8/12/19 Canella is finally home from the hospital after her surgery and she does not seem to understand why the doctors want her in crate rest. She thinks she is ready to go out and play, but her foster mama is making sure she stays as calm as possible to give her leg a chance to heal. Canella is getting marrow bones and stuffed Kongs to keep her busy mind working! She has to have a cone around her head so that she doesn’t mess with her sutures. Since she has the cone on she has a hard time with chewing bones so her foster mama is right there to help her, with even just chewing!

Meet Canella! She is a sweet, fun loving 8-month old girl. She is very active and loves to play with other dogs. She also seems pretty fond of her foster brother kitty. Canella can be a little mouthy, but is very eager to please. Her favorite thing is to lie on the sofa and get belly rubs.
She came to us with a broken back left leg. Her previous owners were unable to provide her the medical attention she needed and surrendered her to VGSR. Having a broken leg did not slow this girl down at all! You wouldn’t have known how badly her leg was broken by the way she moved around! Canella's spirit is bright and her personality big; plate and screws needed to repair her leg are not holding her back. She is on her road to recovery!
Her foster mom will provide updates as Canella progresses and prepares for her furever home.
