7/11/16 Meet Jazz! A very sweet but shy, timid little girl who will soon be looking for her new "furever" home. She is a very "young" 7 year old, who loves to play and snuggle once she gets to know you. Quite the velcro dog, always wanting to be right by my side. Jazz was very thin at 41 lbs. with ribs and hip bones showing prominently when rescued from the shelter. She is now gaining weight nicely. (Up to 48 lbs. as of this date.) But she is small in stature, even for a female German Shepherd and her appropriate weight should probably be around 60 lbs. She is totally trustworthy in the house, NO accidents since coming into my home! She can be crated but not particularly fond of it. She sleeps on her dog bed at night, and is very quiet. Very little barking unless visitors ring our doorbell, and then only a few short "ARF's". Jazz loves her walks and does well on leash. Gets along with other dogs she meets but beware of cats, rabbits, squirrels, and other small furry friends! She does want to give chase but corrects easily. She will run and play in the backyard but usually prefers company, rather than being left out alone. She rides well in the car but has been crated for trips so far, as she is small and moves unbelievably fast and I wanted to make sure she stayed safe. Will try some loose in the vehicle, "back-seat" riding very soon... Jazz came from the shelter unaltered, with hookworms and heart-worms. She is currently recovering from her spay surgery and doing great. The hookworms have been treated and we have chosen to use monthly doses of Heartgard to treat the HW's. Since all dogs need to be on a flea/tick preventative every month anyway, her follow-up care will consist of continuing the Heartgard and a repeat blood test in one year. She will make someone a wonderful companion in the home, and will be ready for "meet and greets" starting July 18th. Jazz is being fostered in the Richmond area and approved adopters can contact me at: judysh8675@gmail.com .
