German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult
7/12/16 This petite girl was found as a stray, so not a lot of history is known. It was evident that she had had a few litters of puppies, so the speculation is that she’d been living in a puppy mill environment, not very well taken care of. She had been cleaned up and we is currently thriving in a home setting. She is HW+, and had started her treatment. The case is evidently mild, so she has excellent prognosis for recovery. Should be all clear of the pesky parasites by September. She does not seem affected by this at all. There are no outward signs currently. So she could be adopted now if the adopters are local and are willing to complete the treatment at a VGSR vet. The rescue will pay for it. She is a joy of a dog. Very sweet and low key. She likes EVERYONE. Not one aggressive bone in her little body. She loves us all. We have kids running around, people coming in and out of the house, and not once did she react with anything less than hand licks and lean-ins for affection. Strangers stop in the street to tell me what a cutie she is, and she stands patiently and receives petting gently. All she wants to do is be around her people. She is walking on the leash better every day. She is good in the house, does fine in a crate. We have cats, and she would chase them to the 2 nd floor, but would not go up herself. She is not very interested in toys, but would carry a stuffed animal as a comforting tool. She has yet to destroy a toy. Does not chew shoes or anything else. She did steal some croissants from the counter once, so the girl likes her carbs… There is no food aggression. In fact, there is no aggression of any kind. She is not very vocal. Does not bark in the house. Will not be a good guard dog. She would so love to settle down in her own home for good and relax. She is learning quickly. Answers to her name now, knows Sit and Come. Takes her treats gently. Loves, loves to be around people. She is currently fostered in VA Beach.
