7/9/15  Sam is a young, resilient, and extremely happy GSD who is looking for a forever family. This Little Mister has settled right into his place in our mellow home once he learned the ground rules of our 2 human, 1 furkid household. He would do best with a strong leader who likes to carry on conversations with a dog.  We have great talks after work with this happy boy when he tips his head back, nose up in the air and moans “rooowww” as his tail waggs his back feet off the ground.

Sampson has done well learning proper dog behaviors from his Big Dog Foster brother and would be fine to live with another large dog breed he can play and have fun with. He walks very well on a leash, knows sit and is working on down and come. He loves to look out the window from the dog bed and sleeps quietly in the bedroom through the night.

Basic information about Sam:

Male

3 year old, neutered

Black & silver

63 lb (could use another 5 lbs)

House trained and will give plenty of warning when he needs to go out by nosing door knob and talking to you

Crate trained, partially. He doesn’t like to go into his Vari Kennel, however his clever mind might leave your house in shambles if gone for work all day. Eventually he may be able to be left out of the kennel, however we highly recommend starting him in a crate to be on the safe side.  He has never messed in the kennel and is only vocal for a short time after you leave.

His only special needs are that you are cautions of sudden movements on his right side as he is mostly blind on the right side and mix water in with his dry food to soften it up

Micro-chipped

No Cats, no small dogs or other small animals

Older children are OK if not allowed to roughhouse or startle Sam without audible warning. We are working to correct his excited habit of jumping to play

Sam does anything he can think of to be around people from nudging arms with his nose to rolling on his back with a toy to look cute. As I type this from the couch, he has nosed the back of the laptop screen twice to get my attention. He is a sweet and funny pup who loves to sleep at your feet and next to your bed. Sam really enjoys the company of another dog and should have a fenced in back yard to run and romp around in. He would not make a running partner as he tends to lag behind but he does love walks.

Sam would make a great addition to any moderately active home with a fenced in back yard or time to walk. He still shows some alpha traits and would benefit greatly from a solid training class with his new owner to polish up his response to commands.
