Sahara is so happy to be out of the shelter. She is said to be a German Shepherd/Mastiff mix.  Though she just came to us 2 days ago she has already bonded well to us and our two German Shepherds.  While she loves to play with us and the dogs, she settles down and is content to lay at our feet. She is curious about the cats, and wants to chase sometimes, but will quickly stop when corrected, and will sometimes just watch them walk by her.  Sahara is very smart and already knows sit, stay, come, and down.  She enjoys a nice, long walk and does not pull hard, though she does need more leash training. She will give a quick bark when she first meets a new friend, but is very happy to see everyone. She is willing to go in her crate, but sleeps in our bedroom at night with the other dogs.  She would make a wonderful companion for a family who likes to walk or hike, and who will be willing to train this sweetie. 

Update 2/14/14
We’ve had Sahara for a month now, and she was recently spayed and microchipped. She is all puppy and enjoys playing with the other dogs in our house.   However, she does growl and bark when out in public and meeting other people.  Ultimately, she is friendly with them, but can pull very hard and will need someone who can work with her on socialization and training issues.  She loves children, but because of her strength and need for socialization, should go to a home with either no children, or older ones.  Overall, she is a wonderful dog who needs time, training, and activity to reach her full potential.
