Jaeger has been with me for 6-7 weeks now and I have learned a lot more about his personality during that time. Proving that first impressions are not always the most accurate, I would now say that Jaeger easily could be an only dog. If he does end up in a home with another dog, I think he will want to be the alpha, as he is a bit dominant with my elderly GSD, Lily. He continues to LOVE the dog park and is great with all dogs (large, small and in-between). He has displayed zero aggression. Contrary to my initial belief, he has reached an accommodation with the felines of the house and is now tolerating them very well (no more chasing them away), though I have had to hide the cat food from him. I think after an initial adjustment period, he would be fine living with cats over the long haul. His leash manners have improved quite nicely, though he still pulls a bit when he gets excited (like when we're almost to the dog park). He rides very well in the car and likes to put his snout out the window. He takes treats as gently as any dog I ever have seen. He has filled out quite nicely now that he is eating regularly and is close to his optimal weight (around 85 lbs.). His coat is looking much better.

Jaeger is still a bit shy of people initially, but once he actually is being petted he enjoys it a lot. I don't have young kids in the house, but he has done well with them at the dog park and adoption events. I would be concerned about him unintentionally knocking over very small kids because he doesn't have a strong concept of personal space. Jaeger needs formal training when he goes to his forever home. Although he has picked up some things quite easily (e.g., leash walking), darned if I can teach this dog how to sit! Training also will help him build trust and a bond with his people. Jaeger is a great dog with a ton of potential, and training will bring that out. MCCVA
