Over the past 6 weeks Jesse has been recovering from mange, skin and eye infections, and putting on some weight. Sadly, Jesse's previous owner neglected him, however, he has made significant progress since coming into VGSR. His infections are all gone and he has gained 10lbs so far (probably could afford to put on another 10lbs). We are still working to get his skin and fur into better condition but that will come with time, proper care, and a healthy diet which he was previously missing. While Jesse's ears don't stand like a typical shepherd, his personality is all shepherd! Jesse is very loyal and loving, and will stick to your side like glue. You aren't allowed to go anywhere in house without him following and checking in on you. He also has a big deep bark, and he will definitely let you know when someone is at the door. However, once properly introduced Jesse is friendly with strangers but is still learning manners not to jump. Besides sometimes jumping on strangers, Jesse can also be a bit of a bull in a china shop. Because of Jesse's exuberance and clumsiness, he would do better in a home without small children that he may knock over. Jesse had no basic obedience before coming into VGSR and has been slowly learning the ropes however he needs an owner that is willing to continue with training and follow through with rules, boundaries and limitations. Jesse is extremely food driven which does help with training. Jesse gets along well with his foster brothers and sister but while he enjoys their company, he's much more concerned with human attention and affection. Jesse doesn't fetch but boy does he love to play with a tennis ball and have the other dogs (or humans) chase him around. Overall, Jesse is a loving, sweet, fun dog that is looking for a forever home that will help make up for the time when he was neglected and missed out on all the necessities of a good healthy life.
