German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Male (not neutered) : : Adult
Meet Oso 6297! Oso is a gorgeous 3-year-old male. He is rather quiet for a young dog, but he has great social skills and greets every person and dog politely. He is playful with playful friends, but his favorite time of the day is nap time with his German Shepherd brother and 3 kitty siblings. [6/9/2024] Oso recently celebrated his 3rd birthday as a VGSR dog. A few weeks before his birthday, he started new medication for his seizures and it is performing miracles!!! Now all he asks for is a forever family! He continues to enjoy playtime with his doggy friends and is the best roommate for cats at home. Can you be his family? [4/25/3024] Oso thought he had a happy life until he was dropped off at the vet for euthanasia. VGSR was given 48 hours to pull him, and Oso joined the VGSR family with a few hours remaining to this deadline. He came with many unaddressed medical issues including epilepsy, vision impairment, underweight, hypoglycemia and heartworm+. After a diagnostic X-ray, abdominal ultrasound, and MRI, working very closely with his medical team, and getting lots of TLC, he has improved significantly, and his seizures are much better controlled. He was initially believed to be vision impaired but his recent reactions to moving objects lead his foster mom to think he can see better than originally thought. He is now heartworm negative and maintaining a healthy weight. Oso is getting more active and engaging, and loves playing tag with his doggy friends. He is still a young dog, so when anybody runs, he thinks it is playtime. He takes corrections well from his siblings. Oso is always near his doggy brother but leaves him alone if his brother wants his own space. He also spends a lot of time with a dog savvy, dominant cat. He will do best with companion animals who are dominant enough to correct him or are unfazed by his behavior. While he acts no different from other healthy dogs, his overall health and medication for his seizures must be monitored. If you are interested in Oso, please contact his foster mom (operationhailey@gmail.com) for further information.
