Lacey is a sweet German Shepherd mix with a spunky personality and the softest golden fur. She came from a shelter in West Virginia where she spent about 200 days, and since no one came looking for her, she was about to be put to sleep.  Fortunately, they contacted VGSR, and that’s how Lacey got her second chance.

As soon as I picked up Lacey, I realized that she is extremely sweet and very friendly. She is curious and full of life.  Vets guessed that she is about 7 yrs old, and if that’s true, I have to say that she is aging pretty well, and has the right amount of energy. She is very alert, playful, likes to run and explore the yard, follows me around and likes to look out the window. But when there is nothing going on, she goes back to sleep or likes to watch you move around. Lacey is potty trained, and goes to the yard door whenever she needs to go out.

I haven’t been able to walk her much, so I am unsure about her leash manners. However, she has been great on car rides, and gets very excited to go to places.

Lacey seems to have the perfect mix of friendliness, energy, and she seems to enjoy human’s company, and loves endless pets and belly rubs. She wags her tail when you talk to her nice and is very treat driven.  We are working on basic commands and she mastered “sit” in less than 20 minutes. She is eager to please, so I imagine it will be easy to keep the training going. She is very gentle when taking the treats.

The shelter did say that she can be a bit bossy around other dogs, but there are videos of her playing nice with males. She is my only foster, so I am unsure of how she will be with other fury animals.  She is sweet and gentle, so I suspect she would be okay around kids. Proper introduction is always the key.

Lacey would be an amazing addition to a family that is looking for a sweet and mature pet, she seems to be a dog that enjoys walks but also wants to hang out with you at home.
