Rose Marie (Rose) is an 18 month old female GSD that was surrendered due to divorce and a work schedule change. She loves to play with our dogs (3 GSDs) and gets along with our cats although I would be reluctant to place her in a home very young cats as she could accidentally hurt a the cat while playing. She has learned to chase and fetch balls but does give it to you but will allow you to take it from her to throw again. Although she loves playing and chasing a ball she really enjoys playing, chasing, and tugging with our dogs as well as playing with her foster parents. She is apprehensive with men and sometimes will submissive urinate a little bit but has not shown any issues with women. As she gains confidence and meets men on the right terms (i.e. letting her come to them, not making eye contact) this should improve. Did I tell you that Rose loves to run and play and walks? She does! She is a very active girl and has not been destructive in the house but is crated when we are not home. I have caught her counter surfing. Rose is crate trained; and will go and sit by the door when she needs to "go".Rose loves attention and pets and has even climbed on the couch and tried to get in foster mom's and dad's lap. She knows sit, down, paw, Very, very food motivated, does not have food aggression, rides well in the car, and is pretty good on a leash. Her foster parents think she is a great girl and will make a great friend to a new family where she can run and tussle with dog friends and not be alone all day. She sleeps the night, gets up very early with foster dad and does her business. She then goes back to bed for a couple of hours while foster dad gets ready and leaves for work and foster mom can sleep a little longer. Due to Rose's energy level she will not do well being left alone for long periods and will only be placed in a home where she will not be alone for more than a few hours. She is a happy, loving dog and is always wagging. She has been scratching but not obsessively so she may be developing some allergies since the vet examined her and gave her a clean bill of health. However, allergies generally show up between the 1-3 years of age for dogs. Rose will be attending events at the Purcellville, VA PetValu. If you are interested in adopting Rose and would like more information about her you can contact her foster mom at mroeshort@aol.com
