Virginia German Shepherd Rescue
, an all volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation
and re-homing of the German Shepherd Dog (and sometimes other breeds/mixes).
We provide a safe haven for German Shepherds who have been abandoned in
shelters, surrendered by their owners, or who have been the victims of
abuse and neglect. We strive to place each dog into a stable, loving, permanent
home. We serve all of Virginia and the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area
by providing a valuable service to find good homes for the German Shepherd
Dogs in our care. Since our inception in 2001, we have found good homes
for about 300 dogs a year. We are actively seeking new volunteers to help
us in our mission to place good dogs in good homes. We rely solely on private
donations and adoption fees to support our efforts to rescue deserving
German Shepherd Dogs.
Please review our Adoption Process so that you will know how to adopt a dog from us.
There are still German Shepherds waiting in shelters for a foster home. We would love to place many of these beautiful animals in a safe and loving home where they will get the care and attention they need until they are adopted. We are seeking people with German Shepherd experience or those willing to learn the breed who would like to share their home with a deserving GSD. Please see our "Volunteer" section for more information or "Required Forms" for a Foster Application.
